What Makes Altra's Waterproof Different

Every GTX-marked Altra uses a GORE-TEX® lining sandwiched between the upper and the inner sock liner — so water stays out, while your foot's own moisture vapour can still escape. That balance is what separates a real waterproof hiker from a generic "water-resistant" shoe: dry feet that don't get clammy.

Note: waterproof shoes stop water entering through the upper, but they can't prevent water entering over the cuff if you step into water deeper than the boot. For reliable wet-weather coverage on creek crossings, mid-cut boots are the safer bet over low-cut shoes.
